Assessing Critical Positions

Objective assessments for the S&C professional

Thank you for exploring our upcoming in-person workshop in Gent, Belgium on December 4-5, 2021. We will focus on assessments, using some of the best tools in sports science to help inform our process.

Here is what we will cover

We will objectively measure what our coaching eye is seeing, with the end goal of guiding our programming decisions. Across 2 days, we will use specific technology to assess various movements, strength & power abilities, and ESD testing.

Video Analysis

We will start with video analysis of key athletic movements, such as running and jumping. In this section, we take deep look into measuring movement mechanics using accessible software that will help us understand the story behind our athletes.

Jumping / Landing

It is well documented that the vertical jump can provide practitioners with valuable information regarding power output, rate of force development and landing/braking forces. We will present a model on how to use jump testing to monitor and assess your athletes’ capabilities.

Strength, Power & ESD

In this section, we cover a large range of topics for athletes with high and low training ages. We will identify basic strength capabilities, along with velocity-based measurements using the PUSH band and Force Decks (Dual Force Plate). We will also focus on ESD testing and provide case studies.
